I don't normally like 'those' kinds of pictures like what is on the homepage of the twins. But after watching Karissa whine and cry on the show today, I have to admit that the second I saw the picture and caption, I laughed - hard! What an idiot! Of course, I do agree that in a casual setting, it is unacceptable. Denis says it was in fun. Then she should just pull her own pants down! Not someone else's!! British humor is really over the top and they think Americans don't have any humor. They don't get it that our humor is just different... Al that said, the picture is still funny after all the whining today!
I knew I was toeing the line when I posted that. And i thought of you too. I try to be respectful, but what Karissa pulled on tonights show is so controversial.
Is it sexual harassment? No means no, right? Did she overreact?
My thinking tends to lean on the fact that the HM's thought there would be nominations today (there wasnt), and the game that the twins are playing kicked into overdrive when Denise pulled Karissa's pants down. I think the overreaction was intended to get the other HM's to hate Denise and to nominate her. But that's just me......
Doc the picture on your post just makes the point. If your that concerned about your ass then don't pose for a picture like that.
Karissa is a b***h and the only reason this kicked off is because of that. Had this been done to Kristina I think she would have laughed it off more with however Karissa butting her nose in to make it a bigger deal than it was.
Noms may have had a role, I don't know what the time frame was to see if Karissa had a few minutes to think of manipulating the situation into her advantage like that for noms.
I just realized seeing the voting lines, I don't want any of them to win! HUH!? I always can pick someone to cheer for but oddly this no one seems deserving of the top spot.
I missed it. What Marsh woman? And what did Pete Burns say about her? I get distracted and don't always rewind... I noticed Pete Burns' comment about Americans on the show, too, Doc. And it was Pete, in that same conversation, I believe, who made the comment about Americans suing everybody. While it is true that it is a problem here, not ALL Americans live by that mindset! Hopefully, he didn't mean ALL Americans. If he didn't, all he needed to add was the word 'many' in front of Americans in his statement and that would have taken care of any misunderstanding. When you are on TV, you need to choose your words more carefully than Pete did! But I do kind of understrand what he was trying to say about Americans being on their show. We don't have people from other countries on our version. Yet, I think the Americans have brought more dynamics into the house! Where would the 'best moment' this season, as people have dubbed the incident between Karissa and Denise, be if it weren't for people from different countries with different ways of thinking living in the house together? And the 'best moment' happened between people from two ENGLISH speaking countries that have about as similar thinking as you can get, too! The show would be merely status quo, boring - like our version!! So, in the end, I really do think the English Big Brother should continue inviting people from other countries. But channel five needs to realize that as long as they do, people from those other countries are going to be interested in watching it!
Where would this show be without the Americans??? You can go back in the history of CBB and see that Americans have provided MOST of the drama in that house. People like Coolio, Verne Troyer, Latoya Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Stephen Baldwin, Tara Reid, Dirk Benedict, Dennis Rodman and Jackie Stallone who was the first American on the show.
Xenophobia (an unreasonable fear of foreigners) always takes over this show in the last week. And the way that last night was edited, it seems that Frankie is now the favorite to win CBB. The day before yesterday, it was the twins. Go figure.....
Another career resurrected, perhaps? If you want to call what Frankie had as a 'career'. Just 5 minutes that turned into 15 hours, really. But if Frankie wins, he could go places after this. We may have another Alex Reid on our hands! ;)
Maybe its my Canadian point of view but I didn't take offense to the "no Americans" comment.
This is BBUK and they can do their show any way they want. As for celebs, every country has their own pop culture and out of that certain people have celeb status within that culture. Most CBBUK housemates I don't know but if I lived in the UK I am sure I would know most of them. True the bigger names tend to be American but honestly that comes from my North American point of view. They are bigger because they are part of my pop culture. The twins, I had no idea who they were. Michael Madsen I knew because because he is a part of pop culture here with his films. If I lived in the UK I am sure Natalie would be quite recognizable.
Conflict in the house comes from people with different personalities. I would characterize US folks as more conservative than liberal UK folks. That could be a terrible stereo type but I said it all the same. I think that is the reflection of conflict between US and UK celebs in the house.
As for Pete Burns' stereo typing of Americans suing everyone I think that comes from his entertainment business background. In big money dealings people play hard ball and threaten to sue or do, just to apply pressure to get deals done. That's Pete's point of view.
Honestly, I love Pete Burns, but are you going to let his opinion get you all riled up? That is what the man does, that is why we love him, and that is why you just can't take anything he says seriously.
I'm wasn't riled up at all, BB. And I wasn't personally offended. Maybe it sounded like I was. I just don't like it when people lump a whole society of people into an opinion. Actually, I agree 100% about Americans being more conservative and Brits being more liberal. I just didn't say it. But that is why I think having Americans in the house makes it more interesting. Different cultures have different ways of thinking and BAM! You have conflict! And, for most people, more interesting shows to watch. Pete Burns? His mouth is stuck in 10th gear. He is very abrupt and harsh with his opinion, but that is what makes him interesting to watch. Honestly, I agree with many of his opinions on the HMs. I would just be kinder about expressing those opinions! :)

Just read the comments before watching the show.

OMG what Pete Burns said about that Marsh woman, my chin hit the floor.
My mouth hit the floor when Pete Burns said that Americans shouldn't be on the show.
Really?
Then WHO would your stars be?
